Baptismal Service

This past Sunday, the boys and 3 other youth were baptized. It was a very special day. It was the very first baptismal in our church's new baptistry as well as the very first baptismal ever held in our church. We've had church baptisms before, but they were held at other churches or locations. We recently purchased the baptistry so we could have baptisms in our church, and it was an exciting day to be able to see our boys baptized and to share the importance of this step in their Christian walk.

We thank God for our boys, and their desire to be Christians. We pray that, as parents, we lead & guide them in the ways they should go. Our prayer is that they would be strong, successful young men who love God more than anything in the world! We love you boys!

Peace?

Many times in this life of uncertainty and unrest, we seek for peace and assurance.

Our lives feel distraught, or we feel apprehensive.

I just love how simple God's Word is.

Isaiah 32:17-18 (King James Version)

17And the work of righteousness shall be peace;

and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

18And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation,

and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

Isaiah 32:17-18 (The Message)

Right will build a home in the fertile field.
And where there's Right, there'll be Peace and the progeny of Right: quiet lives and endless trust. My people will live in a peaceful neighborhood— in safe houses, in quiet gardens.

Isaiah 32:17-18 (Amplified Bible)

17And the effect of righteousness will be peace [internal and external],

and the result of righteousness will be quietness and confident trust forever.

18My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, in safe dwellings, and in quiet resting-places.

New Year

We spent the week prior to the New Year at our cabin! We took along 2 friends of the boys to share the time. The weather was cold, foggy, and we did get a small amount of snow that quickly was gone. We played games, shot guns, went hiking, stayed up late, & slept late. It was a really relaxing week. We taught the boys how to play spoons & the game progressively became more aggressive as the week went on. It was fun to see the boys nose dive to get a spoon. We played other games, but spoons was the all time favorite. If you've ever played spoons, you know exactly why!
New Year's Eve was spent again playing games & at a little before mid-night we talked with the boys about 2009 their accomplishments & things they wish they had accomplished and then we discussed 2010 and what they hope to accomplish & see fulfilled in their lives. It was great to spend the time with such great young men and to see how blessed our lives are! We thanked God for all He had done & all He's going to do. It was an absolutely great way to ring in the new year!

Find the Safe Zone!

Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. 1 Peter 5:8 (Amplified Bible)
